How Is Laparoscopic Surgery Carried Out?
- 1.The surgeon makes one or more small incisions at the operative site.
- 2.A small tube pumped with carbon dioxide gas is inserted to inflate the abdominal space for better access and viewing.
- 3.A laparoscopic lens affixed to a high-definition camera is then placed for the surgeon to view the internal organs via real-time images projected on a monitor.
- 4.Long, thin specialised surgical tools may also be utilised to repair or remove abnormal tissues.
- 5.When the procedure is complete, the surgeon will release the carbon dioxide from the abdominal area, close the incisions using stitches and apply dressing.
